The publication of Pope Francis’ 2020 encyclical “Fratelli Tutti” (“Brothers and Sisters All”) has led me to reflect on the pain of division and how we might overcome them. Divisions include deep political divisions, but mainly I refer to our widening Catholic rifts.
Each of the Gospels gives one or more accounts of Jesus feeding the crowds by multiplying the loaves and the fish. Often our focus is simply on the miracle, and we miss the fact that Jesus is feeding the crowds in more than one way.
