Serving Christ and Connecting Catholics in Western North Carolina

031017 st josephMOUNT HOLLY — Mass will be offered at Old St. Joseph Church March 19, its patronal feast day and in honor of the Year of St. Joseph.

Because of very limited space in the church, the Mass will be offered privately and videotaped on the Diocese of Charlotte’s YouTube channel.

To watch the video, subscribe to the YouTube channel to get an email notification when the video is posted, or follow the Catholic News Herald on Twitter.
The Mass will be offered by Father Paul Buchanan, pastor of Queen of the Apostles Church in Belmont, which is responsible for caring for the historic property.

Built in 1843 for and by Irish immigrants, who had come to mine for gold along the Catawba River, St. Joseph Church is the oldest Catholic church still standing in the state and is an official state and U.S. historical site.
